I love this province, and have lived here my whole life. We can and will do better for our generation and the generations of Albertans to come. We owe it to future generations to address the challenges of climate change and protecting the environment.
We need to make environmental choices affordable so Alberta families can take the steps we need to clean up our planet. By investing in green energy, new transit ideas and conservation we can have a prosperous and clean Alberta.
There is no point of economic development if the water we drink and air that we breathe are so polluted they are unfit for human consumption. When you hear people say that environmental protection will cost industry dearly, they seem to forget that these companies are made up of people that have to live in. Alberta.
The Stelmach government thinks that burying carbon underground is safe, when we all know the science isn’t proven, yet over tax dollars, over 2 Billion, will be given away in order to chase a ill founded solution. 
When it comes to addressing climate change and building the renewable energy economy of the future, the choice is clear. If we don't make the necessary investments now to address climate change, the price tag will be much higher later. If we invest now, we can secure job opportunities for Albertans in new industries like renewable energy. If we wait, climate change will do serious damage to Alberta's economy and leave future generations with a bill they can't afford. Our non-renewable resources will run out, and the cost of dealing with the effects of catastrophic climate change will rise. If we want to secure the prosperity and quality of life for future generations, we have to act now.
The Alberta NDP Green Energy Plan uses the revenue collected from enhanced royalty rates on fossil fuels to develop an energy based around green energy. After all, the burden of addressing climate change and protecting our environment should be borne by the big polluters who are responsible for creating the problem, and by those who can afford to pay,not hard-working Albertans struggling to make ends meet.
Alberta's NDP works for a greener, cleaner Alberta. We believe in a 'three pillar' approach to our vision for a better Alberta - economic, social, and environmental sustainability. That's why all of our economic policies are put to the green test - we believe the lens of sustainability should be present in all government policies. Both the Conservatives and Liberals are backed financially by big oil so they can't be trusted to protect the environment, or build the renewable energy economy of the future.
